"I feel safer since I have a new door and locks on both storm doors, which I didn't have before. I also think my heating bill will be lower since I have a better fitting door."

Early Childhood Assistance

Changes in the labor market and increased family responsibilities make quality and affordable childcare a crucial issue. In Montana, 60-70% of children in subsidized care are placed with parents or aids without systematic education and training…too often young children are taking care of younger children.

Best Beginnings Child Care Scholarship

HRDC offers the "Best Beginnings" scholarship program to qualified low-income families whose child attends a licensed child care center, registered group or family child care home, or legally unregistered child care provider.  Each family participates in the cost of care by making a co-payment based on a sliding fee scale.

Scholarships are available to working families whose income is at or below 150% of theFederal Poverty Guidelines and families who get cash assistance through the Temporary Assistance For Needy Families (TANF) program.
